I began building sandcastles while working at YMCA camp surf in
1990 with some very close friends. Each year Imperial Beach hosts a huge
sandcastle building contest. The YMCA used this contest as a way to raise
extra money for the camp. We would teach kids the basics of building very
large sandcastles and then come up with a theme for the contest.
While there I began many friendships that have blossomed into
lifetime friends. Dan, James, Remmy, and I have been building large
sandcastles for the past 10 plus years.
